Biogeography of the Order Rodentia

Biogeography is the discipline of biology that attempts to reconstruct the patterns of distribution of biological diversity and to identify the processes that have shaped those distributions over time. It addresses a variety of questions such as, how many species are there? Where dot the species live? And why do large, isolated regions have such distinctive inhabitants compared to those of continents (Morrone and Crisci, 1995). Modern biogeography has dated back during the 18th and 19th century during the ¿Age of European Exploration¿ in which explorer began traveling the world in search of new land, knowledge and treasures.
