The Big Over Easy

"It looks like he died from injuries sustained falling from a wall." So says Superintendent Briggs to DCI Jack Spratt, Head of Reading's Nursery Crime Division. It is Easter in Reading and no one can remember the last sunny day. Humpty Dumpty, well known nursery favorite ex-convict, former millionaire philanthropist, and large egg, is found shattered to death beneath a wall in a shabby area of town. Evidence points to his ex-wife who has conveniently shot herself. Jack and his reluctant new sergeant, Basingstoke-born Mary Mary remain unconvinced, and are soon grappling with a sinister plot involving cross-border money laundering, corporate politics, and the cut and thrust world of international Chiropody.
