Beyond Pursuit

In this brother-against-brother Civil War conflict, a pacifist religious group, known as the Dunkers, respond to a bloody war that explodes in their own backyard; the Antietam valley of Maryland. All of this, however, forms the background for a deeper conflict between a rebellious young Dunker boy and the pacifist beliefs of his family, friends, and sweetheart. Through rebellion, death, the slave trade, and a kidnaping, a deeper conflict rears its head, and the Dunkers must deal with the hate that surfaces. For the non-believer and believer alike, there is the drama of battle, the intrigue and suspense of the underground railroad, and the inspiration of a romance that endures despite seemingly overwhelming odds. Underlying the book's theme, the story deals with the classic issue of overcoming hardships and challenges, by turning stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
