In 1981 he received a master\'s degree of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and in 1985 earned a doctor\'s degree. From 1985 to 1987, he was at the California Institute of Technology, engaged in postdoctoral research.He is a professor, a Ph.D. degree, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Third World Academy of Sciences. He is the current chairman of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the cochairman of China Association for Science and Technology and the president of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
