Azcar, Tabaco y Caf: Visions of Cuba

Ignacio Fernndez was born in Camagey, Cuba, in 1945 and moved to California in 1960, shortly after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. Suffused with warmth and sharp-eyed vitality, the colorful paintings, collages, and personal narratives of "Visions of Cuba" evoke an imaginative child growing up in revolutionary times and a witty, irreverent sensibility coming to terms with the ambiguities of Castro's legacy and his own Cuban-American identity.
