Awesomenicity

Rachel grew up in Hilliard, Ohio. Raised in an environment where drugs were prevalent and accompanied by abuse, she struggled as a teenager. A troublemaker and on edge, Rachel felt like no one understood her and turned to reading and writing poetry in order to escape. With the support of one teacher, she graduated high school and went on to become a high school English teacher. She strives to be a positive influence in the lives of young adults and show them the power of communication. With the help of her students she invented the word awesomenicity, which denotes authentic awesomeness. Rachel believes awesomenicity is found in everyone and everything, despite the circumstances faced. Her poetry is a reflection of the strenuous transition from childhood to adulthood she has experienced, causing her to become the person she is, full of awesomenicity and able to overcome anything.
