Archie Day by Day

Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, Reggie- this magical combination of personalities and character types comprise a template for ensemble comedy that has been imitated and homaged ad infinitum. Not only has Archie's popularity endured since his debut in Pep Comics #22, 1941, but his brand of humor grew beyond the confines of the comic book page almost from day one. Time and again the Archie gang has proven capable of thriving in any format, genre and medium- from radio and television, to lunch boxes and hit records. One of Archie's earliest leaps was into newspaper syndication, with a hilarious 1947 strip originally written and drawn by the wonderful Bob Montana, and perpetuated by other creative minds and hands throughout the years.
