I thought, in the beginning, that starting this type of class would be the hard part. I discovered that it was the leaving that was the hardest. On my first day, I thought it would be so difficult to learn everything I needed to know, but that wasnat so hard. I thought, They didnat teach me this in college. I found that common sense was really the most important commodity. The severely handicapped students got a hold on my heart, and when it was time to move on, I felt, deep inside, that I was a deserter. I knew in my heart-of-hearts that I needed to be working with a higher-functioning class and that someone else would take care of amy kids.a
