An Awkward Commission

Since being pressed into service in King George's Navy, John Pearce has endured a hectic whirlwind of events, but his recent surprising promotion means he is finally free to follow his own wishes. Not so the trio of Pearce's closest friends, the Pelicans, who have been shipped off to the Mediterranean. Riddled with guilt, Pearce vows to liberate his friends, and has no choice but to take ship and follow them. Meanwhile, just off Toulon, Pearce's sworn enemy Captain Ralph Barclay risks the lives of his crew, and his beautiful young wife, in a vain search for glory.
