Worldwide around 47 million people have dementia as reported by WHO and in Canada, there are 564,000 people living with dementia. By 2031, that number is expected to rise to 937,000, an increase of 66 per cent as per Alzheimer¿s Society Canada. Alzheimer¿s disease is the most common type of dementia. Alzheimer¿s disease is an irreversible, progressive disorder that slowly deteriorates memory and thinking skills and, eventually, the ability to carry out the trivial tasks. Alzheimer¿s disease (AD) is mostly late onset type symptoms first appear in their mid 60s. Early onset AD occurs between a person¿s 30s and mid 60s and is very rare. Increasing number of AD patient has devastating impacts on their individual life, there family, caregiver and economically burden as whole.The purpose of this report is to understand the possible risk factors associated with Alzheimer and to review the intervention and management strategies applied in Canada. A deeper insight for reducing the incidence, morbidity and mortality of the disease and the preventive programs for management of AD will be discussed. Additionally, identifying the stakeholders of interest will also be covered.
