Showtime at the Apollo

The Apollo has been the cylinder within which the spark of their genius ignited the imagination of the world and powered many of the revolutions in popular culture and style in its 85-year history. Today, the Apollo enjoys an almost mythical status. Even casual music fans know of the theater's significance in music history, but also in African-American history specifically and American history more generally, and to the culture of New York City.
