Misery to Mirth brightens and rebalances our overall picture of early modern health by focusing on the neglected subject of recovery from illness. Drawing on an array of archival and printed materials, it explores how disease was overcome in contemporary understandings, and investigates the personal experiences of patients and their loved ones as they emerged from the sickchamber.
