Descrizione The Literary Myth of the Texas Rangers
The purpose of my thesis is to examine the birth and the spreading of the myth of the Texas Rangers in the literary sphere. So I have decided to analyse two novels: Bernard Lile by Jere Clemens and The Lone Ranger by Gaylord Dubois. The first work, published in 1856, was the ancestor of the novelist mainstream and inaugurated the birth of the Texas Rangers in the literary sphere even if it's not so famous as the second one, The Lone Ranger, first published in 1936, which achieved and still achieves success both in literature and through mass media. I have chosen just these two novels because they give a very different vision of the Texas Ranger and they point out how this character has changed evolving from the figure of a human hero who acted in a determined historical and geographical setting to one of a mythic hero who could be the protagonist of a western movie or be compared to a western cowboy.
