Pragmatics and Discourse: A Resource Book for Students

Pragmatics and Discourse was one of the first volumes published in 2002 in the Routledge English Language Introductions series. The new edition has been revised and reorganised with the aim to place more emphasis on the 'pragmatics' content rather than the 'discourse'.

The second edition of Pragmatics and Discourse will:

• include two completely new strands: Corpora and Communities which incorporates corpus linguistics and communities of practice; and Culture and Language Learning which analyses intercultural pragmatics and language learning theory and practice.
• merge two strands of Context and Co-text and introduce new material from speaker-based cognitive linguisitcs
• add new readings, update references and provide comprehensive further reading.

Pragmatics and Discourse is written by an experienced teacher who will provide an accessible and essential resource for all students of English language and linguistics.
