DescrizioneTrying to gain employment, in a society that prides itself on social equality, forces a Black Jamaican-Canadian woman to live through the racist hiring practices of Canadian governmental institutions, i.e., the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The failure of the Canadian Human Rights Commission, to uphold her Canadian Constitutional Rights, left her with the belief that the dominant group (Caucasian) is free to practice racism with impunity. In absolute despair, she embraces thoughts of death as a relief from her life. Paradoxically, the source of her desire to die is also the source of her desire to live.
