DescrizioneWritten in a clear narrative style, "Chronicles of a Two-Front War" is the first book to examine coverage of the Vietnam War by black news publications. African Americans died in disproportionate numbers in the war and were denied equal rights at home. Eldridge analyzes both the strengths of the black print media and the weaknesses in their coverage, revealing how the black press weighed the war's significance in the context of the civil rights movement. He researched seventeen African American newspapers, as well as "Jet "and "Ebony," and studied interviews with black journalists and editors, oral history collections, personal papers of key figures, and government documents, including those from three presidential libraries.
